Green Schools

We currently have 8 Green Flags and have been involved in this initiative for over 15 years. Attaining each flag requires a great deal of effort from the entire school community. As a result of our involvement in the Green Schools programme, our school community is conscious of conserving energy, recycling goods, looking after our natural habitats and has an appreciation for worldwide issues such as global warming and world poverty.

We are fortunate to have a large polytunnel and we use this to grow numerous fruits and vegetables during the year. We are currently working towards attaining our 8th Flag - Global Citizenship Marine Environment

We were delighted to be one of the finalists at the Bord na Mona Eco Ranger's Awards in Lough Boora, Co. Offaly in May 2018.  Over 620 schools entered from all over the country so it was a big honour to be selected as one of the 12 finalists. On the day we received a Gold Eco Ranger Award and a special award for protecting and preserving biodiversity in our locality.
